BJP leader O Rajagopal on Thursday filed an affidavit in Kerala High Court accusing Congress MP Sashi Tharoor, against whom he had unsuccessfully contested the Lok Sabha polls, of non-disclosure of assets inherited from his late wife Sunanda Pushkar while filing nomination papers and seeking his election to be set aside.

Tharoor, who was re-elected from the Thiruvananthapuram constituency, had defeated Rajagopal in the closely contested polls in April this year. The affidavit was filed on an election petition filed by S Suresh, a BJP worker, challenging Tharoor's election.

According to Rajagopal, Tharoor's election should be set aside as there was non-compliance with the provisions of Representation of Peoples Act and Rules.

Details of immovable properties inherited by Tharoor following death of Sunanda Pushkar have not been disclosed by him, the affidavit stated.

"There is no whisper about the property that devolved on Tharoor though jointly with son of Sunanda Pushkar'. There is also no disclosure of amounts given to Sunanda to discharge her mortgaged liabilities," the affidavit stated.
