Investigators have identified the terrorists responsible for killing BJP state secretary Anil Parihar and his brother Ajit Parihar at Kishtwar on Thursday.

Jammu and Kashmir Governor Satya Pal Malik said the killers have been identified and soon the names will made public.

"Those responsible for the incident (assassination of BJP leader and brother) have been identified. Very soon the results will be placed before you. It has been proved that it was terror incident," he told reporters after inspecting a guard of honour during the reopening of the bi-annual Darbar (shifting of capital) to Jammu.

Anil Parihar and his brother Ajit Parihar were assassinated by terrorists when they were returning home after closing their book shop at Tapal Moholla in the Kishtwar district on November 1.

Fearing trouble, the district administration clamped curfew and requisitioned Army to help the civil administration maintain peace and order in the town. Army columns later carried out a flag march in to keep the anti-national elements at bay.

"It is very unfortunate. Terrorists were frustrated, since all the four phases of Municipal polls passed off peacefully. Their masters across the border were frustrated and they were pressuring them (terrorists) to do something. Terrorists were lobbing grenades at nakas and our forces were tracking them one or two kilometers away. Unfortunately, the BJP leader and his brother were killed," said Malik.

The Governor thanked the people of both the communities for condemning the killing and maintaining peace and brotherhood in the area.

Malik also noted that both parties (National Conference and Peoples Democratic Party) have realised that they have committed a mistake by not participating in the polls. "They feel that they have committed a mistake (by boycotting the polls)," he said.

Meanwhile, the Governor pushed for prompt action to alleviate miseries of people due to bad weather and heavy snowfall in some areas of the state. He reviewed adequacy of food items, fuel, supply of electricity and other basic amenities in areas of heavy snowfall. He also reviewed the schedules of examinations and preparedness of school education department to facilitate students taking exams in this harsh weather.
