In a shocking incident, a five-year-old girl was found dead in a toilet at Gujarat’s Navsari Railway station. The toddler was kidnapped from Mumbai’s Nallasopara area on Saturday.

The victim has been identified as Anjali Saroj. The young girl was studying in the nursery and used to live with her parents in Nallasopara’s Vijay Nagar area.

According to latest media reports, the toddler was playing outside her home with her friends when a woman, who is yet to be identified, lured the girl and abducted her on Saturday.

The Mumbai Police said that it was clear from the other children’s account that the woman wanted to take Anjali away, the TOI report said.

By 8.45pm, when Anjali didn’t return, her family began a search, whence they were told by some children from the locality that Anjali had gone away with a woman.

Despite a frantic search, the parents were unable to locate the child. A day later, the Navsari Police informed the Mumbai police about the incident, who in turn broke the dreadful news to the worried parents.

The five-year-old was strangled by a woman as the body was found in ladies’ toilet at platform 1 in Navsari.

The police have launched a massive hunt for the accused and released a sketch also. CCTV footages from Borivli, Vasai, Virar, Palghar, Dahanu and other stations are being scanned, a cop was quoted as saying by the Hindustan Times.

The father of the victim has not been able to identify the accused from the police sketch.
