Kerala temple fire: Arun Jaitley expresses sympathy for victims

Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley on Sunday condoled the loss of lives in the tragic fire mishap at a temple in Kerala and expressed sympathy for the victims who have suffered burn injuries.

"It is an unfortunate incident. I on behalf of myself and my party express our sympathy over the loss of lives and burn injuries sustained by other victims," Jaitley said in his opening remarks at a state BJP organised media interaction at the Press Club.

In one of the worst tragedies to hit Kerala, 100 people were killed and 383 injured in a major fire early today that engulfed the 100-year-old Puttingal Devi Temple complex at Paravoor near Kollam during a display of fireworks, for which no permission had been granted by the authorities.
