Kerala polls: Activist Rahul Easwar says he's contemplating offer by BJP

Activist and author Rahul Easwar has been approached by the BJP to contest the Kerala Assembly polls. Speaking exclusively to dna, Rahul says, "I have been a very non-political person though I do go and take part in events across political parties."

Rahul is the Kerala State Youth Commission co-ordinator currently. He is the son of Easwaran Nampoothiri and Mallika, and the grandson of Kandararu Maheshwararu, senior supreme priest of Sabarimala.

He adds that however his family has always been pro-Congress. "Gandhiji has visited our home in Kerala in the 1930s and even Indira Gandhiji had called our family to do a pooja for them," he explains.

The BJP has decided to field him and his good friend Sreesanth as well. It looks like Rahul may be fielded from Trivandrum, Thrissur or Kanjirappally by the political party which has got many celebs on their candidates list this time.

As for Rahul, he says he and his family are still contemplating the offer and will decide in a day or two. "I have thanked the BJP for their offer but I am yet to decide. We will decide shortly," he adds.
