Kerala government said on Monday that it would not impose a ban on 'Kiss Protest' organised by a section of people in the state against moral policing.

"In a democracy any one has the right to organise protest and counter protest. State will interfere only when it become a law and order situation", Home Minister Ramesh Chennithala told reporters.
He was replying to the scuffle and sporadic violence occurred between pro and anti kiss protest activists in Kozhikode yesterday.

The state government has no objection to any type of protest organised by anybody, he said. However, he reminded that as per section 285 of IPC, perfomring obsene act in public was an offence.
Government had taken a lenient approach while dealing with the 'kiss protest', he said. Government has no plan to ban it, he said, adding, "let them agitate".
