The state police in Kerala has been accused of doing 'moral policing' by a couple who made a Facebook Live of the incident.

Vishnu Vichu, who made the video, says he and his female friend Arathy were in a public place in Thiruvananthapuram on Tuesday when cops harassed them saying they were committing "vulgur actions in public space".

Vichu started recording them on Facebook Live. "We took a live video and asked them to say according to which law were we wrong. And they had no clear answer. They took us to the police station calling me things like bloody rascal," he said.

According to NDTV, Vichu is heard telling the cops on Facebook, ""Tell us what vulgur activity have we committed? Did we kiss? There are cameras here. Did we hug each other? You can't harass us just because we have our arm on the other's shoulder,"

They were finally let off after being fined Rs 200 for committing "public nuisance".

"The police had no answer to our question of what wrong we had committed. We just signed the fine slip and left," said Arathy.

A senior police said that they had received a complaint and hence acted accordingly.
