The story of the father abusing the mother and children came to light when the ninth standard student told his teachers at the CCM Higher Secondary School at Karikkattoor. Officials from Childline, the Special Branch and the state intelligence wing came to the school with the police who then collected evidence against Muthu Ganesh, reports Malayalam Manorama.

Numerous organisations and people have reportedly come forward to help the student and his family. The father is reported to have hidden the boy’s certificates and documents, denying the benefits due to him as a member of the OBC. He is said to be a very good student at school.

The boy’s mother was so badly beaten up that she couldn’t move. She was admitted to the Thiruvananthapuram Medical College and is now recovering at home.

The report adds that the boy’s father came with a friend and they beat him, his mother and even his grandmother.

After their marriage the husband, Muthu Ganesh, started throwing parties with free flowing alcohol and when the family objected, he beat them up. The younger son was taken by him to the toddy shop and forced to drink. When this happened, the mother left with her children. The family has been on the run for the last year even as the father continued to follow and harass them.

The police have now filed non-bailable charges against Muthu Ganesh and three of his accomplices.
