The national capital is witnessing huge showdown as the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) is protesting against the Modi government, even as the Delhi police have denied permission.

Thousands of AAP workers are participating in the protest march gathered at Mandi House to march towards Prime Minister Narendra Modi's residence.

Several party workers are holding a placard which reads - "Modi ji, LG stop taking revenge".

The Left party has also joined AAP in the protest against Centre.

The AAP is holding the march to support Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal along with his deputy Manish Sisodia, ministers Satyendar Jain and Gopal Rai, is sitting at the office of Lt Governor Anil Baijal for past one week, demanding him to direct IAS officers to end their "strike" and approve doorstep delivery scheme of his government.

DMK working President MK Stalin also tweeted in support of Kejriwal.

"I am concerned with the disdain shown by Lt. Gov. of Delhi towards an elected Chief Minister like @ArvindKejriwal. The BJP is proactively destroying the federal structure of this nation. I express my solidarity with the Chief Ministers who are standing up for States' rights," he said.

The party leader had also accused the Centre of misusing its powers to stop Delhi government from working.

"The call given by the AAP to march towards PM office or residence is without permission. No permission has been applied for. As such the areas under New Delhi district are under prohibitory orders," a senior Delhi Police officer said.

However, AAP leader Saurabh Bhardwaj said they will request the prime minister to tell the protesting IAS officers to resume work.

"I assure Lieutenant Governor, Prime Minister Office and Delhi police that there would not be any violence. People just want to tell the prime minister that the LG appointed by him, is doing injustice to Delhi."
