Chilling details have emerged in the horrific gang-rape and murder of the eight-year-old tribal nomad girl in the Kathua district. From being drugged to being gang-raped by three men and then killed, the bone-chilling crime had all the wicked traits of lust, hatred and revenge.

The Crime Branch said that as per opinions furnished by the experts, it has been confirmed that hymen of the deceased was not intact and there were lacerations on the vulva of the vagina. There was blood stained discharge inside the private parts of the girl. "As per the report of medical experts, the victim was found prima-facie raped before being killed. Furthermore, investigations in this regard have established that the victim was raped by more than one accused with common intention. Accordingly, section 376-D RPC was added in the case", the chargesheet states.

The Crime Branch has charge-sheeted seven people including police sub-inspector, a head constable, two special police officials (SPOs), a juvenile and a retired revenue officer, for the heinous crime.

According to the chargesheet, in the month of January, accused Sanji Ram (retired revenue officer) had planned to dislodge the Bakarwal community from the Rasana area. He hatched the conspiracy along with accused Deepak Khajuria, an SPO from the police department and a juvenile. The chargesheet states that accused Khajuria along with his friend Vikram went to Bitu medical shop at Kottah Morh on January 7, 2018 and purchased a strip of Epitril (0.5 mg) containing 10 tablets by showing his maternal uncle's prescription, who has a psychiatric problem. The investigation further revealed that Ram directed the juvenile to give some intoxicant to the girl and confine her at (religious place).

According to the chargesheet, on January 7, Ram told the juvenile to kidnap the Bakarwal girl who often came to the forests behind the house of the accused to graze her horses. "Deepak lured him to kidnap the victim on the assurance that he would help him in passing the board exams (through cheating)," the chargesheet.

On January 12, ,2018, accused Vishal Jangotra alias Shamma, son of main accused Ram, reached Rasana from Meerut. Investigators learned that after distributing Lohri to relatives in the evening, the juvenile allegedly told Ram that he and Jangotra had gang-raped the girl inside the religious place. "Khajuria told juvenile to wait as he wanted to rape the girl before she is killed. As such once again the little girl was gang-raped firstly by accused Khajuria and then by the juvenile. After committing the barbaric act, Khajuria kept her neck on his left thigh and started applying force with his hands on her neck in order to kill her," the chargesheet states.
