cores of college students and government employees today protested against Israel's air strikes in the Gaza Strip resulting in the death of more than 150 civilians there.
Students of various colleges here took out rallies in the city to protest against the offensive, which they called "massacre" of civilians by Israel, and "criminal silence" by world bodies over it.
Shouting slogans and carrying banners against Israel and in support of Palestine, the students marched towards city centre Lal Chowk and dispersed peacefully later.
The rallies, however, led to traffic jams in the business hub.
A protest was also held by government employees at Press Enclave here, demanding United Nations' intervention to stop Israel's offensive.
The protesting employees called upon the world leaders to pressurise Israel to stop the strikes.
Meanwhile, Awami Muthaida Mahaz, an amalgam of various mainstream political parties, also took out a protest rally to condemn the killings and urge the leaders of the international community to broker peace in the region.
