A militant believed to belong to Lashkar-e-Toiba was killed and eight other people were injured early on Friday, when firing broke out between the security forces and a group of militants in south Kashmir's Pulwama district.
Firing was going on in the Chandgam area of Pulwama between security forces and holed-up militants when reports last came in, a police spokesman said.
"One militant has been killed so far. The operation is on," the police spokesman said. Exchange of fire broke out in Chandgam area of Pulwama this morning between security forces and holed up militants, the spokesman said.
Two Lashkar-e-Toiba militants were believed to be holed up in the village.
