Taking to Twitter, Singh, who is the Minister of State (MoS) in the Prime Minister's Office (PMO), attacked former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti for praising Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan while criticising the government of Prime Minister Narendra Modi in India.
"Indeed, how times change! Kashmir mainstream politicians sing the song of Pakistan when they are out of power, but swear by India when in power. Remember, #Farooqabdullah, as CM, frequently advocated the bombing of terror camps in Pak occupied Kashmir," Singh tweeted.
The reaction from the MoS came after Mehbooba praised Imran Khan after he announced to rename Baloki Forest Reserve in Pakistan after Baba Guru Nanak, the Sikh community's holy figure and expressed his wish to build a university in his name.
In a tweet, Mehbooba said that while Indian government's "top priority" is seemingly renaming historic cities and building Ram Mandir in Ayodhya but on the other hand, it is heartening to see that Pakistan has initiated steps to name Baloki forest reserve after Guru Nanak and create a university in his name.
Ever since the split between the PDP and the BJP in Jammu and Kashmir, Mehbooba has on several occasions criticised the BJP-led NDA government at the Centre.
Since the BJP came to power at the Centre, the government has given nod to the renaming of several towns and villages across India. Recently, Allahabad was renamed as Prayagraj and Faizabad district was renamed to Ayodhya district in Uttar Pradesh.
The Indian government, on the eve of Guru Purab on November 22 last year, approved the construction of Kartarpur Corridor from Dera Baba Nanak in Gurdaspur district to the India-Pakistan international border. The Pakistan government has also confirmed the corridor's opening.
The Kartarpur route along the India-Pakistan border is three kilometers away from Gurdaspur in Punjab. Once functional, the corridor would allow Sikh pilgrims direct access to the historic Gurdwara Darbar Sahib in Kartarpur, Pakistan, where Guru Nanak passed away in 1539.
