Kashmir: Gunbattle between security forces and militants erupt in Kupwara forest

An encounter broke out between militants and security forces in a forest area of Kupwara district in north Kashmir on Tuesday night, police said. No casualties have been reported on either side so far in the operation, a police official said.

Security forces launched an anti-militancy operation in Watsar forests in Handwara area of the district on Tuesday following information about the presence of militants there, the official said. He said the gunbattle raged when reports last came in late on Tuesday evening.
