Kashmir gears up to vote for Lok Sabha polls

With just a few days left before the country votes for the Lok Sabha elections, officials in Jammu and Kashmir said they were ready to face the biggest election the world has ever seen.

Returning officer from Poonch district, Ajeet Kumar Sahu, said that the arrangements for elections were in place.

"All arrangements are in place. The electoral rolls are ready. We have distributed the photo voter slips used as an alternate identity proof yesterday to all voters of the area," Sahu said.

Sahu added that the officials had campaigned for a good electoral turnout at polling booths that used to experience low number of voters

"For a good turnout we have made a plan under which we identified the booth with lower voter turnout, our officials campaigned personally o those booths," added Sahu.

Meanwhile, Commander of 16 Corps Lieutenant General Gurmeet Singh said that they were prepared for any attempts of disruptions as far as the security was concerned.

"We have an effective infiltration grade in place and our in network is also effective and is in excellent coordination and security situation is under control and we are prepared for any attempts of the infiltration," Singh said.
