Ajmal Kasab, the sole surviving terrorist of the 26/11 attackers was hanged at Pune’s Yerawada jail at 7.30 am.

Ajmal Kasab, the sole surviving terrorist of the 26/11 attackers was hanged at Pune’s Yerawada jail at 7.30 am on November 21, 2012 and later reportedly was buried in the jail premises. Prior to Kasab, Dhananjoy Chatterjee was executed in the year 2004 for the rape and murder of a 14-year-old girl.

However, India is not the only country where capital punishment is given as a punishment for a crime. Our neighbours, Pakistan and Bangladesh too employ death penalty as a method of punishment. Zee Research Group (ZRG) pieces together forms of execution worldwide along with few recent cases.

Richard Leavitt:
He was executed on June 12, 2012 by lethal injection for brutally stabbing a 31 year old woman named Danette Elg in 1984.

Muhammad Hussain:
Muhammad Hussain, a former soldier, was hanged on November 15, 2012 before sunrise at Mianwali Jail. He had been sentenced to death in February 2008 for killing his superior Havaldar Khadim Hussain over a personal dispute.

Nazmul Sakib
was hanged to death on September 6, 2011 at Jessore Jail, he was charged for killing a woman and her son in south-western Khulna district of Bangladesh 11 years ago.
