The Ramayana Exam in Dakshin Kannada has been topped by Fathimath Rahila of Puttur. A leading daily reports that the 9th standard student scored 93% to top it. The exam was conducted by the Bharatha Sanskriti Prathisthan in November 2015.

Fathimath goes to Sarvodaya High School, Sulliapadavu, on the Karnataka-Kerala border. Her interest in literature compelled her to join a course in the Ramayana and the Mahabharata. According to the daily, her uncle supported this and she was keen on topping the exam in Karnataka. Unfortunately, she managed to only top it in the Dakshin Kannada area.

Her father, Ibrahim M, works in a factory and her mother is a homemaker says the daily. Fathimath reportedly stated that she was preparing for the exam from the beginning of the year and her uncle was helping her with the exam. She now wants to take the Mahabharata exam.

Shivarama HD, her school principal, and P Satyashankar Bhat, coordinator of the exam, have told the daily that taking the exam is based on the student's interest only. The exam is also said to be more literature-oriented and not religious. 39 students from Fathimath's school appeared for the exams states the daily.
