Karnataka: Five law students killed in road accident in Dharwad

The accident happened near the University of Agricultural Sciences in Dharwad.

A Karnataka state transport corporation bus rammed into a car, instantly killing five law students travelling in it. The accident happened near the University of Agricultural Sciences in Dharwad.  

According to a report in Deccan Herald, one of the deceased, Anish Chinchore, was the son of the Hubli-Dharwad Municipal Corporation corporator and senior Congress leader Deepak Chinchore. Another student who was killed was the son of Ballari Additional Superintendent of Police Vijaykumar Dambal. 

Two students who were injured in the accident have been admitted in a critical state to the Karnataka Institute of Medical Sciences in Hubli. 

All the seven students were studying law at the Sri Siddappa Kambali Law College in Dharwad. They had gone to Belagavi and were on their way back when the fatal accident occurred. 

According to the report, the police have stated that the driver of the car tried to overtake a truck and rammed into the bus. Police have registered a case.
