Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Wednesday invited industrialists from Maharashtra to set up their units in his state which will help it get an estimated amount of Rs 2,500 crore as investments.

He said as many as 1,486 industrialists from Kolhapur district of the neighbouring state had petitioned the government to allot them 1,726 acres of land to establish their units in the state, particularly Belagavi. The proposed industrial units would create 20,000 jobs to people living in the state, Siddaramaiah in a statement here.

The Chief Minister said a delegation of some industrial associations based in Kolhapur visited the city and he had assured them of necessary infrastructure and a meeting with the industrial department soon. "I have directed the Additional Chief Secretary to call for a meeting soon," he added.
