Congress President Rahul Gandhi has promised to create one crore jobs in five years if voted to power in Karnataka. "It is the voice of the people of the state," Rahul Gandhi said while releasing the manifesto for Karnataka Assembly Elections 2018 in Mangalore.

Rahul Gandhi said the document contains the 'Mann Ki Baat' of the people of Karnataka. In an apparent jibe at BJP, Rahul said: "This is not a manifesto that has been made by 3 or 4 people in a closed room. This is made by going to every single district and every single community".

Rahul attacked BJP for "acting to protect the interest of RSS and Reddy brother" and promised to work for the benefit of one and all.  "I thank Mr. Moily for his effort in going to each district and having meetings with the people of Karnataka. This is unlike the manifesto of the BJP which will have the hidden interests of the RSS and Reddy brothers", Rahul Said.

Congress has promised WiFi in all colleges and universities in the state. Healthcare programme for the elderly, and extension of free ration scheme to migrant labours are other highlights of the manifesto.

Earlier, the Congress party on Thursday filed a police complaint after an aircraft carrying party president Rahul Gandhi suffered a serious malfunction and alleged that it endangered the life of the passengers.

The Congress president claimed the Siddaramaiah government had fulfilled 95 percent of the promises made in the manifesto released ahead of the 2013 polls after coming to power.
Elections to the 225-seat assembly are scheduled for May 12.

The Karnataka state unit of the Congress on Thursday filed a complaint with the Election Commission demanding action against Prime Minister Narendra Modi, BJP national president Amit Shah, and state party president BS Yeddyurappa for alleged violation of the Model Code of Conduct.
