Karan Johar says government should ensure that Censor Board certificate is final

Renowned filmmaker Karan Johar today said the Central government should work towards ensuring that the Censor Board certificate is the final law for movies, insulating them from legal cases.

"The present government should ensure that censorship is the final law. If that doesn't happen, then the filmmakers would continue to be soft targets," Johar said addressing delegates at the NFDC Film Bazaar on the sidelines of the ongoing International Film Festival of India (IFFI).

"Responsibility is a critical thing. In the given scenario we have to be a lot responsible. As a young filmmaker I was less responsible. I used to put out a film and apologise for it," he said. The 'Student of the Year' helmer said he has been fighting cases in court filed by religious groups, despite the film getting Censor Board certificate.

"I am still fighting the case for 'Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham' for last 14 years," Johar said.
