Kanpur train accident: Prime suspect & alleged ISI agent Shamsul Hoda arrested in Nepal

A prime suspect in the Kanpur train accident, in which at least 150 people were killed, has been arrested from Nepal.

Nepal police and Indian agency have arrested Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI)​ agent Shamshul Hoda, who has links with one of the train blast accused, reported ANI quoting sources.

The role of Pakistan's snooping agency ISI in the derailment of Indore-Patna train on November 20 last year in Kanpur is being looked into. ISI's role was suspected after Bihar police arrested three people who they claimed were working for the Pakistani intelligence agency to target Indian railways.

During interrogation, the three arrested persons had reportedly provided some "positive lead" about the Indore-Patna Express derailment in Kanpur.

Moti Paswan, Uma Shankar Patel and Mukesh Yadav were arrested from arrested from East Champaran district of Bihar, and they allegedly confessed to having worked for a Nepalese contact suspected to be connected to ISI to target the railway," District Superintendent of Police Jitendra Rana had said.

The three were paid Rs three lakh by a Nepali man Brajesh Giri, who allegedly has connections with Shamsul Hoda of Dubai who has links with ISI, the SP had said.

"The money was paid to them to plant a bomb on railway tracks at Ghorasan in East Champaran district, bordering Nepal, in October 1 last year."
