A Uttar Pradesh cop posted with Kanpur police has been suspended for his abusive tweet against the family of Ankit Saxena who was allegedly stabbed to death by his Muslim girlfriend’s relatives.

The action against Arvind Singh Parihar was taken by Kanpur's Senior Superintendent of Police Akhilesh Kumar after an in house inquiry found him guilty of posting the abusive tweet.

Parihar had posted a ‘hateful’ tweet against Muslim community while responding to a report that Ankit Saxena's family hosted an 'iftar' party to promote communal harmony on Sunday.

A Twitter user posted the screenshots of the comments made by the constable and tagged the chief minister, the director general of police and the CM’s office.

The matter was probed by Babupurwa’s circle officer Ajit Kumar Rajak who said Parihar admitted to making a “wrong comment” on Twitter.

Ankit Saxena, a professional photographer, was stabbed to death in the Khyala area of Delhi, allegedly by family members of his Muslim woman, four months ago. Her family had opposed her relationship with Ankit as the two belonged to different communities.

Ankit's father Yashpal Saxena on Sunday hosted an 'iftar' party to promote communal harmony and asserted he did not want a society where hatred was spread.

Yashpal said hatred makes things worst, and "I have been left bereft of my son as a result".

"If I had responded with the same anger back then.... I don't want a society where hatred is spread and damage is caused to others," he said.

He said that he had organised the 'iftar' (traditional feast during Ramzan) for the people to send out a message of love and peace.

"The idea is to spread communal harmony. I want the spirit of love to be spread, not hatred," he said.
