Mojo Bistro's co-owner and accused in Kamala mills fire case, Yug Tuli was produced in Bhoiwada court on Tuesday afternoon and has been remanded to police custody for five days.

While asking for maximum police custody, the police told the court that Tuli is main accused in the case and was absconding. The police blamed Tuli for serving Hookah at Mojo that caused fire. "Hookah was being served illegally in the Mojo due to which the fire started and the accused had the knowledge that the this kind of mishap can take place due to hooka. Tuli is in possession of all licenses and agreements of the pub and hence the maximum police custody should be given,"said Special Public Prosecutor Prakash Shetty.

While refuting all the allegations, Shyam Diwani, defense lawyer said,"Tuli himself surrendered himself before the police soon after the anticipatory bail application was rejected and was also present in the police station whenever he was called for questioning. The fire brigade report which established that the fire started from Mojo is full of flaws and based on social media posts. Apart from that the FIR registered in the case and remand copy are completely contrary to each other and whenever Tuli was called he recorded his statement with police. Nothing remains to be questioned and hence minimum police custody should be given,"said defence lawyer.

After hearing both sides, magistrate RM Karade remanded Tuli to police custody till January 20. On Tuesday morning Tuli had surrendered himself, after session court in Mumbai had rejected the anticipatory bail plea.
