After facing flak on social media over using a caste title in his upcoming movie's name, actor-turned-politician Kamal Haasan on Monday, announced that he had not yet decided on the name for the sequel to Thevar Magan (Son of Thevar), which had won five national awards and was selected as India's official entry to the Oscars. Thevar Magan, released in 1992, one of the classic films of Tamil cinema, was criticised for glorifying caste pride of Thevars, an influential community in Southern Tamil Nadu.

"When I declared that I will act in Thevar Magan 2, I only meant that I will make a sequel for the movie. I have not decided on the movie's title yet," he said. Haasan had earlier said his party would not indulge in communal or caste politics.
