The minor who was said to be the most brutal and savage in the horrific December 16 gang rape case and got away after spending three years in a juvenile observation home, was traced to Delhi's Mahipalpur area recently, according to Delhi Police sources.

Coincidentally it was Mahipalpur where the victim and her friend were thrown off from the moving bus after the gruesome incident in 2012.

Intelligence agencies as well as Delhi Police officials keep a close watch on him and his whereabouts. Before his release in 2015, the Intelligence Bureau in a report had said that he had been radicialised spending time with a fellow inmate who was part of the Delhi High Court bombing conspiracy.

During his stay at the reform home, he was kept away from other inmates. It was only in 2015 that he was made to stay with Kashmiri youth, and intelligence agencies believed that he was radicalised then.

Even though the parents of the victim are happy after the Supreme Court verdict, they say they wished the juvenile too was given the death sentence. "He should not be allowed to go free like this. He was a part of the crime. He should be awarded the death sentence too," said the parents of the girl.

The juvenile was sent to a reform home for a period of three years. He was first lodged at the reform home at kingsway camp but was alter moved to the reform home at Majnu ka Tila.

"The juvenile should also be treated like others who were involved in that heinous crime. It's really unfortunate that the he was allowed to go free even after being proven guilty in the case. The juvenile laws should have some exceptions in such cases," said Barkha Shukla Singh, former Delhi Commission for Women chief.

After his release on December 20, 2015, the juvenile was handed over to an NGO which sent him to another part of the country.
