Juvenile arrested for Rs8 crore heist in Delhi

Four days after the daring robbery in south Delhi, the Delhi Police has arrested three people in this connection. A juvenile too has been arrested on suspicion. The juvenile was working at the office of Rajesh Kalra. The other three arrested are Tinku, Praveen and Bhola. The trio was arrested from Chandigarh.

Police said the juvenile passed on the entire information about the hawala money being transferred in the car of Rajesh Kalra and informed Ajay who in turn told Shakti Naidu — a professional robber who was involved in a 2002 in a bank robbery and had been to jail. Ajay is a relative of Naidu. The three involved more people to be part of the robbery and hatched a plan on January 24. They used three cars in the robbery - Wagnor, Verna and Zetta - While the money was being taken in Honda city, five to six armed men intercepted the Honda City car near Lajpat Nagar with the wagnor car and fled with the vehicle and Rs7.69 crore cash.

All the involved robbers met at Mahipalpur after the robbery and distributed the looted money among them.

The incident took place at 9:00 am, when Rakesh Kumar a businessman and manager of Kalra and his partner Rahul Ahuja, was going to Karol Bagh along with three employees —  driver Subodh, Rajesh and Baijnath. Kumar and the others were travelling in Kalra’s car. Kumar had told police that they collected cash from Kalkaji and Greater Kailash to deposit it in two separate bank accounts in Karol Bagh.
