"I'd like to request Indian business leaders in India to listen to the challenges that even successful women in their organisations have faced in their journey. Getting women to be successful in their jobs is not just a nice or good thing to do, but also a smart thing. It means more economic success and better impact on the workforce and business, and also on the community," said Justin Trudeau, Prime Minister of Canada in his opening remarks at the India-Canada business forum.

The forum, which aims to highlight ways in which Canada and India can work together to boost innovation, strengthen innovation ecosystems and business connectivity saw MD and CEO of ICICI Bank, Chanda Kochhar interacting with Trudeau, in a gathering of who's who from the industry captains of the corporate world. Nearly 150 Canadian delegates were also in attendance.

When asked about his meeting with Indian business leaders, including Anand Mahindra, Kumar Mangalam Birla and Cyrus Mistry, among others, earlier in the day, Trudeau said: "I find many connections between India and Canadian businesses, whether it is in natural resources, tech-sector or IT, pharmaceuticals, life sciences or biotechnology. There is so much compatibility." Based on the meetings, he also announced a billion dollars of investments and 5,000 new jobs in Canada. "We also see a lot of opportunity for investment in India's growth, especially from our pension funds and are actively considering those options."
