A day after, the Congress raised allegation against him, Justice (rtd) S N Dhingra, heading a commission to find out former Haryana CM Bhupinde Singh Hooda's role in the illegal grants of licences to hundreds of private companies, including Robert Vadra, involving his company Skylight Hospitality and real estate major, DLF, today broke his silence.
It has been alleged that Vadra being the son-in-law of Congress President Sonia Gandhi, Hooda government had favoured him in lad dealing issues.
Dhingra sought six weeks time from the Haryana government to complete his report after he obtained new documents from the general public.
The political parties raised the issue that Dhingra, who is the Chairman of Justice Gopal Singh Public Charitable Trust since 2011, had sought ML Khattar's government's favour to clear blocks for a construction of a school.
Talking to dna, Dhingra he said due to new documents on benami transactions, he had to seek extension of the commission.
To the allegations that he had not called Vadra or the whistleblower Ashok Khema, a bureaucrat, for their views so far, he said it was not necessary to call every one for examination.
"I called the officials who were required. I don't call people to see their face," he said.
He also issued his personal statement, which dna has access, Dhingra said "I do not consider seeking construction of roads for the villages, or working for the education of underprivileged children amounts to accepting a bribe."
The retired Delhi High Court judge said he has have been writing to the authorities for the cause of the people as a judge that included illegal cutting of trees, fighting for womens' right, holding medical camp, blood donation camp, informal education of underprivileged children and contributing towards building a charitable cancer hospital at Bhatinda, Punjab.
"I have never been involved in any of the cause for publicity or personal gain. I consider it a right of every citizen to at least make a try for the right things to be done. I do not consider seeking construction of roads for the villages, or working for the education of underprivileged children amounts to accepting a bribe.
"I or any of the trustees do not hold any land in any of the villages where construction of road was requested. Neither the trust pays any of us to do charity work. I do not own the trust, I am merely someone who works to make it more effective for helping the underprivileged," as stated in his letter.
Meanwhile, the Trust also cleared the air through a press release.
"Everyone is welcome to visit the trust and its projects and to contribute for the welfare of the under privileged through their time, effort, financial contributions and ideas. The trust is not a recipient of any govt aid, neither from the centre, nor from any state," as per the trust.
Congress spokesperson Randeep Singh Surjewala said "Justice Dhingra Commission of Inquiry has become a political tool for malicious witch hunt by BJP government."
