A day after a 49-year-old man was murdered in a moving car in Juhu, the police have arrested the two accused in the case on Sunday. The main accused, Madurai Devendra, 40, alias Madira and his driver Parmesh Devendra, 32, stabbed Mariyappa Raman Devendra more than 15 times and dumped his body on Saturday evening. Both the deceased and the main accused are history sheeters and have many cases of assault, cheating and murder registered against them with Juhu police.
Why was the murder committed?
According to the police, Madurai, the main accused and a resident of Nehru Nagar, claimed that Mariyappa owed him Rs15 lakh which he had borrowed over the past several years. "He claims that despite repeated warnings and reminders, Mariyappa refused to return the money. This led Madurai to plot his murder," said a police officer from Juhu police station.
It was a pre-planned act
On Saturday, Madurai called Maryiappa and asked him to come near Juhu Garden and go with him for a drink. The duo came in an SUV and picked up Maryiappa around 5pm. They drove him towards Vidyanidhi circle in Vile Parle 10throad and stabbed him over 15 times inside the car and dumped his body in the same area.
Accused, deceased history sheeters
The deceased worked as a small-time contractor and lived in Nehru Nagar. He is survived by his wife and three children. "Madurai, on the other hand, is a local goon who had several property dealings and political inclinations. Both Madurai and the deceased were notorious criminals of the area," said an officer.
