Indian woman abducted in Kabul rescued, to reach Delhi today evening

Judith D'Souza who was abducted in Afghanistan capital Kabul was rescued on Saturday morning.

The Minister of External Affairs, Sushma Swaraj informed of her being rescued in a tweet this morning. "I am happy to inform you that Judith D'Souza has been rescued," Swaraj tweeted.

"Judith D'Souza is with us - safe and in good spirits. I have spoken to Judith. She is reaching Delhi this evening. Ambassador Manpreet Vohra is accompanying her," said Sushma Swaraj.

Judith D Souza's sister said that the family was grateful to the Indian government.

D'Souza was abducted on June 9, while she was returning home in Kabul. 

On June 10, in the wee hours of the morning, the family members of D'Souza had received a call from the Indian Embassy in Afghanistan informing them of her being abducted in most probabilities. Since then, the family wrote the Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Swaraj on several occasions.

A day ago, D'Souza's brother, Jerome had met Swaraj in person and she had assured her that his sister will be brought back home safe.

She had been working with an NGO -  Aga Khan Foundation for a year in Afghanistan.
