A Mumbai magistrate on Wednesday sent Mohammed Anwar Ansari, accused of raping a Spanish woman, to judicial custody till November 9, police said.
The police had on Tuesday arrested Ansari for allegedly sexually assaulting the 27-year-old Spanish national in her rented apartment in Mumbai.
Mohammed Anwar Ansari alias Badshah has been remanded to judicial custody till November 9 by the magistrate court, Assistant Commissioner of Police S. Marathe told IANS.
Police said the accused raped and robbed the 27-year-old musician on early Monday. Ansari was detained the same night for questioning.
Ansari had allegedly threatened the woman with a knife, forced her to have a bath and wiped his fingerprints from the crime scene before fleeing with cash, police said.
