Expressing solidarity with the judiciary, the Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA) on Saturday said it would oppose any wrong done to judges or the judicial system.

"Judiciary in this country is one of the most loved institutions that we have and Bar of the entire country will stand up, if any kind of wrong is done to the judges or judiciary", the SCBA President and senior advocate Dushyant Dave said at a function organised by the lawyers' body to felicitate apex court judges and 24 chief justices of High Courts here.

He said the bench could also gain from the experience of "elder members of Bar" like Ram Jethmalani, F S Nariman and P P Rao and urged Chief Justice of India H L Dattu to involve the bar more in the decision-making process.

Addressing the gathering, Manjula Chellur, the first woman Chief Justice of the Calcutta High Court, said "the Bench needs support of Bar for effective functioning. ... We are one family."

Top judges of the country are in the capital to take part in a three-day-long judges conference to deal with problems faced by judiciary. The holding of the conference during holy weekend for Christians has created a huge controversy.
