Supreme Court lawyer and activist Prashant Bhushan, moved by the plight of Bhadra – the five-month-old dog that miraculously survived after being flung off a three-storey building, has agreed to help and advice to the activists who have decided to fight a legal battle to challenge the bail of the two accused”

"It was after the accused came out on bail within 24 hours that we took to social media, requesting help from lawyers to challenge the bail order in higher court. Soon we managed to contact Prashant Bhushan's office and he agreed to give them legal help from Delhi in coordination with the legal team in Chennai," said Rubin.

The cruelty against Bhadra got worldwide attention after a video became viral, which showed the dog being flung off a terrace in Chennai by a youth, who was later identified as Goutam Sudharshan, a final-year medical student.

The video was filmed by Ashish Paul and both the accused were identified on Tuesday and a first information report (FIR) registered against them. However, the duo was granted bail by the Sriperumbudur magistrate court on Wednesday.

Rubin said that with such stalwarts in the field of law coming to help them it was sure that they would be able to not only get justice for Bhadra but also set a precedent in other cruelty cases. In fact, the lawyers from Chennai who were helping them in the case were doing it pro bono and the movement to get the accused punished is now getting stronger.

Rubin also informed that Bhadra had been kept at an undisclosed location as she was not getting enough of rest due to the attention she was receiving. "The medical advice is to restrict her movement as much as possible as there is a cast on her right hind leg and it needs to heal," he said refuting the claims being made that she has been adopted.
