The local RSS unit of Ghazipur has no faith in the UP BJP government led by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. After the RSS SahKaryavah of Karanda block in Ghazipur was gunned down on Saturday morning, the Sangh volunteers went on a rampage in the local market in Brahmanpura area to protest the killing.

RSS media incharge of Saidpur in Ghazipur, Manoj Kumar Yadav said journalists and RSS workers were unsafe in the Yogi regime. "Since the Yogi government came to power in UP, journalists and RSS activists are not safe. We were not safe before and we are not safe now. As you can see there have been so many killings, here in UP as well as across the country," Yadav said.

Furious that no BJP leader reached the crime scene or contacted Rajesh Mishra's family even several hours later, Yadav said the BJP was in a habit of forgetting its workers once it came into power. "Even after so many hours, we have not heard from any BJP leader — local or otherwise," he said. "The uselessness of these people [BJP leaders] is proverbial."

"It is now a matter of public discussion. People are saying, that it is a historical fact that once the BJP comes to power, it abandons its workers," he added.

He lamented at things not having changed on the ground for BJP/RSS workers even when the saffron outfit was in power. "It does not feel like we are in power. It is the same for us, even worse, as was in the past."

However, Union minister Manoj Sinha, who is the sitting MP from Ghazipur, later visited the Rajesh's family and extended his condolence. UP BJP chief Mahendra Pandey too left from his home-town Chandauli for Ghazipur to take stock of the situation.

RSS thinker and DU professor Rakesh Sinha said, "The reason behind the assassination must be unravelled as soon as possible and there should be a thorough investigation into whether there is an organised force working behind such murders in the various parts of the country. What does not need investigation, though, is that extreme RSS propaganda is being proffered by left-liberals and sections of some mainstream political parties so much that they have demonised RSS and projected it as fascist threat to minorities. This is creating an environment more vicious than binary. It is giving way to violence. It is time to re-examine such polemical discourse by forces who claim themselves as liberal-democrats and seculars."
