On the eve of Dadra and Nagar Haveli’s 58th liberation day, Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) propagandist Sanjay Joshi was in Silvassa on Sunday. He emphasized the major role played by RSS in redeeming the Union territory from the clutches of Portuguese.

The programme was organized by Pandit Din Dayal Updhayay Smruti Seva Samithi. BJP and RSS wings of Silvassa were in-charge of the event with Sanjay Joshi as the chief guest.

“Terming it an international issue, Jawaharlal Nehru, free India’s first prime minister, refused to take over Dadra and Nagar Haveli from the Portuguese. It was RSS that played an active role and helped the local people in getting independence,” Joshi claimed.
Earlier, Joshi was accorded a warm welcome by the BJP and the RSS people upon his arrival. He spoke about the need to build a strong community and country. He claimed that people today have lost the sense of duty towards the society. “There are high buildings in the society, but morality is going down. Everybody speaks about rights, but seldom think of their duties. We have widened roads in our cities, but are still narrow minded. A country needs people who can devote their life to it,” he added.

While Joshi acrimony was directed at the UPA government for its ineffectiveness, he, however, was conspicuous by his silence on the BJP in Gujarat or the state government. He spoke only about the BJP and the RSS in general. “All people affiliated to BJP and RSS present here on this occasion have come on their own will. I will
always work for the BJP and the RSS,” he affirmed.
