JNU students union president Mohit Kumar retorted to BJP MP Meenakshi Lekhi's statements and said if she and her party were ready to take oath for stopping mob lynching incidents.

"Will @M_Lekhi take oath that there will be no mob lynching and she and her party will not tolerate hate mongering. This will bring peace," Pandey said in a tweet.

Supporting the JNU Vice Chancellor's idea to procure and install a tank on the varsity campus, Lekhi had on Wednesday in Lok Sabha said JNU students must take an oath to protect the country's pride and nationality. She also alleged that anti-India slogans were raised on the JNU campus, which was run by tax-payer's money.

Responding to it, Pandey, in another tweet, said, "Will @M_Lekhi take oath that her govt will provide education, employment and health for all. This will really contribute to our nation."

Taking note of BJP leaders welcoming the VC's request to install a tank in the campus, JNUSU wondered if the VC was a member of the saffron party.

JNU VC M Jagadesh Kumar had on Sunday during celebration of Kargil Vijay Diwas sought a decommissioned tank to be installed on the campus to recognise and respect sacrifices of its alumnus who have received degrees.
