JNUSU leader Kanhaiya Kumar attacked with shoes during Nagpur rally

Kumar was also attacked by Bajrang Dal activists earlier in the day where they pelted stones at his car.

Shoes and slippers were hurled at the Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) students’ union leader Kanhaiya Kumar on Thursday while he was addressing a public meeting in Nagpur on the occasion of BR Ambedkar's 125th birth anniversary. 

Media reports state that several members of  Bajrang Dal stormed the event and attacked the JNUSU leader with a shoe while shouting "Kanhaiya Kumar murdabad." Kumar, however, escaped fro the venue unhurt. 

Earlier on Thursday, Kumar was also attacked by the Bajrang Dal activists who pelted stone at his car and smashed his windows.Workers allegedly belonging to Bajrang Dal attacked Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) students’ union leader Kanhaiya Kumar's car when he arrived in Nagpur to address a public meeting, reports ANI.

Kanhaiya's car was attacked by workers who pelted stones. Police have detained five people in this connection.

 

The meeting was organised by the Progressive Students’ Youth Action Committee. Several right-wing organisations have threatened to foil Kanhaiya's meeting in Nagpur.

The orange city is the headquarter of RSS and Kanhaiya in his speeches has severely criticised the organisation. Kanhaiya Kumar shot to fame after Delhi Police slapped sedition charges against him and other students for 'anti- India' speeches inside the JNU campus. He was arrested and later released on bail.
