J&K: Top Pakistani JeM terrorist killed in encounter

Huge quantity of ammunition and incriminating material have been seized from the site.

Security forces dealt a major blow to Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) outfit when they killed one of its Pakistani cadres in an anti-terror operation in Vailoo village of Kokernag in South Kashmir's Anantnag district.

Elsewhere, terrorists thrashed the SPOs guarding minority village in Budgam while security forces conducted a search operation in a reputed school at Burhan Wani's hometown of Tral.

Police said a search operation was jointly launched by Security Forces at Vailoo village in the wee hours of Friday. "During the operation, search party came in contact with the terrorists leading to an encounter. In the ensuing gun fight one terrorist was eliminated," said a police spokesman.

Huge quantity of ammunition and incriminating material have been seized from the site. "From the material seized it is learnt that the killed terrorist is a Pakistani affiliated with Jaish-e-Mohommad. He was involved in several attacks on security forces and civilians in the area," he said.

In another incident, a group of terrorists stormed the post guarding the minority village of Ichigam with an intention to snatch weapons. However two SPOs deployed in the post were unarmed. Terrorists later thrashed the SPOs before leaving the spot.

Earlier in the day, security forces cordoned off Hamdard Grammar School in Tral after receiving some inputs. The incident occurred at 10.30 am when the classes were on in the school. Security forces later searched the entire school and did not found anything. The students however were allowed to go without any hassles. Later after through search, the cordon and search operation was called off at 2.30 pm.
