J&K: Top LeT commander Abu Dujana killed in encounter in Pulwama

Top Lashkar-e-Taiba commander Abu Dujana was on Tuesday killed in an encounter with security forces in Jammu and Kashmir's Pulwama. 

Dujana and another militant was killed during an exchange of fire between a group of militants and security forces.

"LET chief Commander Abu Dujana of Pakistan along with his accomplice killed in Hakripora Pulwama," Jammu and Kashmir police said on Twitter.

"The fact that he went to meet his wife was known to Jammu and Kashmir Police (JKP) and having watched him on two earlier occasions a certain pattern of timing and pre-arrival locational environment was noticed," said intelligence sources.

As soon as the input was received, JKP placed its watchers around the house and watched silently under cover for two hrs till forces arrived.

Sources said that the militants were inside the residential complex and in a bid to flush out the terrorists, the security forces had to blow up the house as there was no other option.

Acting on specific intelligence input about the presence of militants in Hakripora village of Pulwama, security forces launched a cordon and search operation in the area.

The militants opened fired during the operation, prompting retaliation from the forces which triggered a gunbattle.

Reports said that though the firing has stopped, heavy stone pelting has begun.
