Jammu and Kashmir police achieved their first major breakthrough on Monday when they identified the three-member group of Hizbul Mujahideen terrorists involved in the killing of the CRPF trooper who was on leave in South Kashmir's Pulwama district on Sunday evening. Nasser Ahmad of the 182nd battalion of CRPF was shot dead by terrorists when they stormed his residence at Naira village in the Pulwama district late on Sunday evening.
"Three militants led by Sajad Magray killed the CRPF solider in his home. Magray of Nowpora village was accompanied by two other local terrorists when they assassinated Naseer. All three terrorists are locals and belong to the Hizbul Mujhadeen terrorist outfit," Mohammad Aslam Chaudhary, senior superintendent of police, Pulwama, said. Security forces have launched a manhunt.

Police said terrorists on Monday evening lobbed a grenade on security forces in the Sherbagh area of Anantnag district. "In the incident, three jawans of CRPF sustained injuries. The injured jawans were shifted to a nearby hospital," said a police spokesman. A search of the area was soon underway.
