J&K: Pakistan violates ceasefire in Balakote sector, 5 civilians killed

In an incident, which is only likely to increase tension between India and Pakistan, 5 civilians in Jammu and Kashmir have been killed due to ceasefire violation. Pakistan violated ceasefire violation in Balakote sector of Jammu and Kashmir. In the brazen attack, 5 civilians have been killed and 2 people have been injured. 

According to reports, all the 5 members belong to the same family. They were killed in unprovoked attack by Pakistan on India. Heavy arms were reportedly used in the attack. The two injured have been rushed to the hospital, said SP Vaid, DG of J&K Police. Heavy shelling has been reported from Poonch. Firing is still going on which started around 7:45 AM. The situation in LoC remains tense. 

The dead include Mohammed Ramzan (35), his wife Malika Bi(32), and sons Abdul Rehman (14), Mohammed Rizwan(12) and Razaq Ramzan (7).

The injured include Nasreen Kouser, daughters of Mohammed Ramzan – 11-year-old Nasreen Kouser and 5-year-old Mahreen Kouser.

 India on Saturday gave a Note Verbale to Pakistan through its high commission in Islamabad protesting the "intimidation and harassment" of its staff there, the 12th such diplomatic note in less than three months. Official sources said that in its communication to the Pakistan foreign ministry, the Indian high commission specifically mentioned two incidents of harassment -- one today and the other on March 15.

"Another Note Verbale was sent today by our High Commission in Islamabad to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Pakistan protesting against the intimidation and harassment of Indian High Commission officials," a source said. "This was the 12th Note Verbale this year on the subject," the source said.

In the Note Verbale, two incidents were highlighted. Pak sources have said that their envoy to India is unlikely to come back to India anytime soon.
