A day after Pakistsani flags were waived during a rally by separatist leaders in Srinagar, Jammu and Kashmir National Panthers Party on Thursday charged BJP-PDP government "for total failure" and asked the saffron party to prove its "nationalistic" character.

"The BJP should prove its nationalistic character," state President JKNPP Youth Wing and former minister,Yashpal Kundal, told reporters in Jammu on Thursday. He said that if they (BJP) feel they do have a nationalistic character then they should withdraw the support from the "unholy alliance without any delay to save the interest of the state and the country".

Kundal said that otherwise the seething anger of the nationalist people of Jammu region would blow the saffron party to smithereens. Lambasting Syed Ali Shah Geelani, Masrat Alam and other separatist leaders, scores of Panthers Party activists staged a vociferous protest demonstration outside the Press Club and burnt the effigy of Alam.

State JKNPP president Balwant Singh Mankotia accused the BJP for its pusillanimous surrender of all the Jammu related core issues before the PDP for the power.

He said, "reorganization of the state is the only way out from the present turmoil and creation of a separate Jammu Pradesh shall only liberate the people from all miseries and discrimination".

After a gap of five years, Jammu and Kashmir Government on Thursday allowed Geelani to hold the rally where his supporters including Masarat Alam, released from jail last month, raised pro-Pakistan slogans and others waved Pakistani flags. Alam, who was released soon after PDP-BJP government came to power in the state, led the march from the Srinagar Airport to Geelani's residence at Hyderpora.

Besides the Hurriyat flags, some supporters were also seen carrying Pakistani flags as they chanted pro-Pakistan and pro-freedom slogans.
