The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Monday said that the People's Democratic Party (PDP) must show its cards first before any forward movement is made on how to take the existing alliance ahead. "PDP has to choose its legislature party leader as the first step. PDP has to show its cards first, then only can the BJP say something. The people have given us a mandate for six years and we will work towards development," BJP MP and Jammu and Kashmir affairs in charge Avinash Rai Khanna said.

"People of Jammu and Kashmir want development for which the BJP has received a huge mandate," he added.

The PDP had earlier indicated that it won't go ahead with the alliance with the Bharatiya Janata Party if the agenda of alliance stitched under the leadership of former chief minister Late Mufti Mohammad Sayeed was not implemented in letter and spirit.

Meanwhile, PDP chief Mehbooba Mufti has called for a legislature party meeting in Srinagar today to discuss the issue of government formation.

Mehbooba had yesterday said the party will take a call on government formation as and when it was confident that the vision and mission of Mufti Mohammad Sayeed will be carried forward. Jammu and Kashmir Governor NN Vohra has told both PDP and BJP that they must clarify by tomorrow evening whether they will form government in the state again.

The new government is yet to be formed even three weeks after the death of former Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed on January 7.
