Two terrorists were killed in an encounter with security forces in Kulgam's Chadder area in Jammu and Kashmir on Sunday. Heavy exchange of fire ensued after an Army patrol party was attacked by terrorists in the area.

A PTI report said that two Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) terrorists were killed in an encounter with security forces. The encounter began this afternoon at a village in Kulgam as Jammu and Kashmir Police, along with the CRPF and the Army, were carrying out operations to clear a national highway ahead of the Amarnath Yatra, beginning June 28, a senior police official said.

The encounter was still going on, the official said.

The administration has suspended internet services in the area.

Jammu and Kashmir DGP SP Vaid said 2 terrorists were reportedly killed in the encounter.

More details awaited.

This comes two days after two terrorists reportedly affiliated to the Islamic State Jammu and Kashmir (ISJK) and a policeman were killed in Anantnag district.
