Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Raghubar Das, who is being seen as the frontrunner for Jharkhand chief minister's post, on Wednesday said the state will develop under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

"Under Prime Minister Modi's leadership, entire Jharkhand will now develop," said Das.

Expressing his delight over the verdict of assembly polls, he said that 14 years of poor governance has now ended.

"Prime Minister Modi's appeal to the people of Jharkhand during the election campaign asking them that 'you give vote we will give development' has worked. Our party workers have worked very hard and the people of Jharkhand have also given us majority votes," said Das.

The BJP leader, who won from Jamshedpur East by a huge margin, also thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the party workers and the people of Jharkhand for the BJP's good show in the assembly polls. Commenting on the chief ministership issue, Das had earlier said that a final call in this regard would be taken by the party's central leadership, including Prime Minister Modi.

The BJP has appointed J.P. Nadda and Vinay Sahstrabuddhe as the party observers to oversee the election of leader of legislature party in Jharkhand. Breaking from fractured mandates in Jharkhand in the past, the BJP-AJSU alliance secured an absolute majority in the 81-member assembly this time. Out of total 81 assembly seats, the BJP won 37 seats while its ally AJSU Party secured five seats.
