At least two people were killed and several others injured after police opened fire during a clash outside a thermal power plant in Jharkhand's Ramgarh, on Monday.

The incident took place at Inland Power's plant situated at Gola in Ramgarh as villagers were protesting against displacement, reported IANS.

Angry mob also torched official vehicles and blocked the Ranchi-Sikidiri and Gola road.

A BDO was seriously injured in stone-pelting, and the Circle Officer was also manhandled. Besides, more than 25 policemen sustained injuries in the stone-pelting and alleged firing by the mob, reported Indian Express.

A thermal power plant had been operating its first phase (63 Mega-Watt) since 2014 and another 63 MW is in the offing. The villagers from around eight nearby villages had been demanding jobs within the plant compensation against land acquisition, the report said quoting police.
