The Jharkhand High Court on Friday issued a notice to former chief minister Shibu Soren on a petition stating that the JMM supremo had failed to mention criminal cases against him and the name of his wife in the affidavits while filing nomination for the 2014 Lok Sabha elections from Dumka.

The court of Justice H C Mishra issued the notice to Soren and fixed January 28 for hearing. In his petition, BJP leader Sunil Soren, who had lost to Shibu Soren in the Dumka Lok Sabha elections earlier this year, alleged the latter had not mentioned the name of his wife and matters relating to criminal cases.

The petitioner also alleged Chief Minister Hemant Soren had used the state machinery to help his father in the LS elections.
