The AIADMK on Wednesday said party chief J Jayalalithaa is likely to take oath as Tamil Nadu Chief Minister by next week.

"Before Jayalalithaa takes over as the CM, she will go through the judgment to be thorough with it. It is more than 900 pages long. She is also waiting for the right time before making any announcement.
Most likely, she will become the CM by next week," AIADMK leader C R Saraswati said.

Saraswati also dismissed allegations by the opposition, after parties, including the DMK and PMT alleged that a 'miscalculation' had helped Jayalalithaa get an acquittal in the disproportionate assets case filed against her.

"The opposition parties cannot digest the judgement. They were expecting something different because the DMK wants to come back to power. However, the justice [presiding over the case] said very
clearly – the property values were miscalculated, because property rates have changed since they were bought," she said.

"Everyone knows, Jayalalithaa was a very big heroine once. She was charging lakhs those days and one of the properties named was bought by her mother. She is also a regular tax payer," she added.

Earlier this week, Jayalalithaa was acquitted by the Karnataka High Court in a disproportionate assets case. All the other accused in the case have also been acquitted. The acquittal of the accused was
done on the basis of an appeal by the latter.

In the wake of her acquittal, her counsel B Kumar stated that she can now become chief minister again.
