Terrorists attacked the training centre of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) in Jammu and Kashmir's Pulwama district on Sunday. Five jawans were martyred and three others were injured in the attack. Security forces managed to kill two terrorists in the gunfight which is still underway.

"We have located the militants and gunfight is on", Rakesh Yadav, CRPF spokesman told DNA.

Around 2:10 am, the terrorists first lobbed grenades and then began firing in an effort to gain an entry into the training camp in Awantipora.

"Fidayeen managed to enter Lethpora camp at 0210hrs. Jawans got injured during initial intrusion from J&K Police Commando training area side. There is quite a possibility of a similar type of attack on other camps also"  CRPF said.

"We are yet to ascertain how many terrorists have gone in. It is Lethpora camp where some normal training is going", said Yadav.

Security forces have rushed in reinforcements to track down the holed-up militants. "Operation is on. We are waiting for the first light", he said.

Security police had prior information about the attack, senior officers shared with Zee News.

Room-to-room and floor-to-floor intervention are currently going on. Paramilitary forces have also assumed positions to tackle the terrorists holed up in the camp.

The fidayeen attack comes days after Jaish-e-Mohammad vowed to avenge the killing of its chief Noor Mohammad Tantray by security forces at Samboora village of Pulwama district.

Noor Tantray alias Noor Trail, a midget militant who had jumped bail, was the main architect of recent fidayeen attacks in Kashmir.
